History of Hawa Mahal :

The structure was built in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh in the form of the crown of Krishna, the Hindu god. The original intention of the lattice was to allow royal ladies to observe everyday life in the street below without being seen, since the women of the Royal family were  not allowed out in public, so the Hawa Mahal was built to ensure they had a great view of the comings and goings of the city. It was designed by Lal Chand Ustad. The view from the street is the back of the structure.

The monument is 5-storey building in pyramidal shaped. It’s 953 windows (also called jharokhas) decorated with intricate latticework. The elegant palaces that give Jaipur its old-world charm were largely constructed from locally sourced sandstone.
